I’m drawn to overlooked locations you might pass without noticing; a street light, an illuminated tree or a floodlit pitch. Empty of human presence, the scenes sit between use and abandonment, as nature slowly encroaches upon the man-made. My work explores the mediated landscape as a contemporary form of Romanticism, where beauty, nature and the sublime are often encountered through screens and images. Artificial light plays a central role in flattening space and heightening colour, lending the environments a constructed and simulated quality.
